The High Performance Computing Research Center (HPCRC) at Amirkabir University of Technology (https://simorgh.cloud) was established in 2001 (1380) in collaboration with the Faculties of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, with the goal of advancing the nation’s scientific and research activities and fostering the development of the supercomputing industry in Iran.
With more than two decades of experience in designing and developing parallel processing systems, providing GPU-based cloud computing services, and developing large language models (LLMs), the center is recognized as one of the leading and most active institutions in the fields of supercomputing, cloud computing, high performance computing (HPC), and the rapidly growing technology of artificial intelligence. It is regarded as one of the most experienced research and development centers in these domains.
The center’s experts successfully designed and built Iran’s first domestically developed supercomputer—an important achievement that paved the way for the introduction and expansion of this strategic technology within the country’s scientific community.
The HPCRC is also among the first in Iran to offer fully automated, 24/7 cloud-based supercomputing services, supporting a wide range of engineering and artificial intelligence applications and software.
To date, the High Performance Computing Research Center, as one of the leading institution in this field, based on official statistics from the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy of the Presidency, has managed to capture 60 percent of the market for high-performance computing services in the country, including AI-related services and the demands of this sector. Moreover, this volume of services has been accompanied by maximum user satisfaction in this field. Additionally, a significant portion of these services has been allocated to knowledge-based companies and various industries across the country.
It is also important to note that this center is currently the only public service provider of Nvidia H200 graphics processors in the country.
